Friday evening we were in the hall for a lovely bowl of soup and bread for those who wanted it. Saturday morning a walk for the energetic ones followed with a bacon buttie. Saturday evening was race night unfortunately we couldn,t attend this but was enjoyed by all those who did go. Easter sunday found the kids out seeking easter eggs,then there was swimming,penalty shootout and wellie wanging something for everyone.
Sunday evening back in the hall for easter bonnet parade then games galore. Then we did the closing flag which I was asked to do because all the marshalls were on committee and it was a pleasure to do it.
Monday saw a lot of ralliers leaving for those who stayed behind there was a cream tea. sadly it rained so we had to take then back to our vans but they were very very nice.we must say a huge thankyou to all the marshalls for making us feel so welcome.hope you all go back to work for a rest ha ha. so thanks go once again to, Helen & Scott/Joan&Barry/Jim & Fiona and not forgetting Maddison/Whitney/Shanice Finley/and Freya.

Viki & Mike Tripp are running a pre Chairmans at Sutton Park and Richard & I are running a follow-on at Acaster Malbis so you can spend 2 weeks in the York area where there is lots to see and do. I have volunteered to coordinate the Charity stalls and plans are now well in hand.
The charity stalls will be on Sunday Morning from 10.30am to noon and so far consist of the following:-
  • Raffle Book stall Card/Wrapping paper Bottle tombola Soft toy tombola           
  • Mixed tom bola  Bacon buttes & Tea & Coffee Cake stall Waffle stall Spin the wheel   
  • Whiskey throw  Various guess the date Teddy / Tigger  / Doll  / Sweets in a jar / Cake weight

THERE WILL ALSO BE A SURPLUS EQUIPMENT AUCTION ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON RUN BY GEOFF KIRK & HIS MERRY MEN!!
Any items for this are to be brought to the rally. The Charity will take 10% of the sale price [except for large items eg awnings - when a price will be agreed.] Items do not have to be caravan related.

YOU CAN ALSO GIVE ITEMS FOR SALE FOR WHICH YOU DO NOT WANT ANY MONEY BACK. 
ANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO ANY OF THE ABOVE STALLS WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED - especially the Raffle & Tombolas.
You can give them to any Committee Member on rallies leading up to the Charity Rally or on the Rally itself.

Thank you to all ralliers at the Pontefract Rally for the Get Well soon card they sent to me. I am feeling better now after my unexpected stay in hospital over Easter. I have been told it will be a slow healing process, however as long as i can rally i can put up with that, Thanks again.

I know that thanks were given to the rally marshals and Denis at the rally, but I would like to thank them through both the web site and the About.A great deal of hard work and worry goes into this event especially by Joan Baxter and Denis Brennan. Thank you Joan for a superb rally and venue for the dinner. Special thanks must go to Denis who I know had put many a long hour into making up the dance programme, finding new music and inputting it all into his lap top. In all he had over 15 hours of a varied programme to suit every conceivable taste. However part way through the evening, through no fault of his own, the music was deleted from his lap top. At the same time the hotel entertainer suffered from the same problem and she lost all of her backing music. Nevertheless and very concerned that he had committed to give a dance programme Denis managed to find some disco music hidden elsewhere in his lap top. Consequentially he had no alternative but to put this on for the last 2 hours. Not the programme that he intended but at least he did his very best in very difficult circumstances to give enjoyment to us all. Many thanks Denis you could have done no more.

The booking vouchers have a value of £2.00 each and are available for members to buy in books of 5 vouchers at a cost of £10.00 per book.

If you are not on a rally the booking vouchers are available from the Treasurer at all times. Send your request for vouchers with a cheque to cover the cost and they will be forwarded to you by return.

The attendance was good for the first event, as seven outfits turned up from all over Florida. The rally was held over four days on a local campsite in Melbourne on the space coast. You could not have wished for a more interesting bunch of people.

As you would expect the weather was great, and in the evenings we all got together around a camp fire and ate toasted marshmallows and swopped caravanning stories about our different vintage airstreams. Jason and the grandchildren visited us when we marshalled at Pickering in 2010 which gave him the idea for the rally, we are hoping the rally will become an annual event.

I and many others believe the club has overlooked a huge number of Caravan Club Members, people who travel for long periods without a computer, and of course those who simply don't want a computer. I, like many others use both, I liked picking up my magazine and looking at what other centres are doing without the need to Boot up!

There has been little or no consultation and I for one don't like it, what next?

The fireworks were spectacular, the weather stayed fine and the catering party produced the annual food extravaganza. The youth section did themselves proud selling amazing cakes and buns all weekend. What an achievement!

Well done to all. And don’t forget, next years bonfire is to be held at the magnificent Hutton Cranswick Sports & Recreation Ground.
